Interview with Professor Dwayne Tunstall

Dwayne Tunstall

Abstract

My name is Dr. Dwayne A. Tunstall. I am currently an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Grand Valley State University (Allendale, Michigan, USA). While I occupy many social roles, I presume that this interview is primarily, if not exclusively, about me as a philosophy professor and an academically trained philosopher. I am most comfortable answering the second part of this question along these lines: I am about doing god’s business. Of course, I should clarify what I mean by “god’s business.†For me, “god†is an ethical ideal. Indeed, it is a symbol representing the most ennobling features of human beings and other sapient animals. Doing god’s business, then, involves us living morally and helping others live fulfilling and meaningful lives. I wish that I could do god’s business better, though.
