Interview with Professor Yunusa Kehinde Salami
Abstract
"Prominent among the problems confronting the teaching of African philosophy are problems such as recognition and accordance of philosophical status and identity to African philosophy. This challenge arose from the point that many a time, those writing materials on African philosophy and those teaching it do not pay adequate attention to the critical and analytical rigor expected of philosophy. This is in addition to excessive devotion to foreign religions, which makes many African students to be averted to the study of African philosophy, some of the subject matter of which they consider fetish and not worthy of being researched upon. These are all in addition to dearth of relevant materials compared to Western philosophy." -- Yunusa Kehinde Salami
