From Zikism to Dystopia: Public Security Challenges in Nigeria

Ifeanyi Ezeonu

Abstract

Nigeria is currently facing considerable public security challenges. Endangered by various forms of organized violent crime, there are concerns that the country is increasingly becoming a failed state. This article discusses this dystopian state in the light of the country's failure to achieve the post-independence dreams of its most prominent founding father, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe. The article calls for a new security apparatus (based on economic security) as a way to reverse course.
