Interview with Professor John H. McClendon

John H. McClendon

Abstract

I am African American philosopher concerned with issues about critiquing and fighting against capitalism, imperialism, racism, national oppression, class exploitation, and all other forms of oppression. My worldview is founded on Marxism-Leninism; hence I am a Marxist-Leninist philosopher in the tradition of Kwame Nkrumah, Amilcar Cabral, C. L. R. James, Fidel Castro, Eugene C. Holmes, and Claudia Jones. I am about introducing philosophical perspectives on concrete conditions of material life with the view of advancing critical thinking and practical engagement. I teach courses in African American philosophical traditions, philosophy of sports and the African American experience, introduction to philosophy, social/political philosophy, Marxist philosophy, philosophy of religion and the African American experience and African philosophy.
