"A Voice from the Clinic": Wale Okediran, Tenant of the House, on Creative Writing and African Literature

Omotayo Oloruntoba-Oju

Abstract

Tenant of the House is the title of Wale Okediran’s most recent novel. It is arguably the most popular of his ten or more novels to date, and it details in fictive form the corruption and political intrigue of the lower chamber of the Nigerian National Assembly, to which Okediran himself was a personal witness as a member of the chamber. Years before he became a tenant of the house, Okediran had fielded questions on his views on creative writing within the context of African literature.
