From Asia to America's Heartland: Part III

Abstract

The documentary explores how three Asian students from China, Thailand, and India came to be in the United States for their education. What are their views of their American colleagues and the environment? For those who came with their wives, what are the wives’ experiences given that their identity in the United States is simply that of wife? Focusing on one specific woman, the documentary shows how she spends her time when her husband and daughter are at school? And more importantly, how did her daughter adjust to the different cultural milieu of America? The portraits the documentary paints underscore the commonality of immigrant experiences, revealing that the motivating factors for American education are essentially the same for students of other countries.
