Abstract


Witches in Exile highlights a phenomenon in northern Ghana, where women who have been accused of being witches are banished from their villages, subjected to severe beatings and even lynched through mob violence. According to ordinary people interviewed on the street by filmmaker Allison Berg, this is what should happen to witches. One young woman says, “Even if it is my own mother, they should kill her.”
