About The Author

Alexis M. Skinner

Alexis M. Skinner is an arts administrator with a commitment to guiding young professionals and developing opportunities for minorities in the arts. She holds a B.A. in Theatre from Temple University in Philadelphia and from Goldsmiths College, University of London, an M.A. in Arts Administration and Cultural Policy. She has worked in theatre in the UK in such roles as Assistant Producer of SpokeFEST, a UK-wide poetry festival and competition; Watching Making Shaping at the Victoria & Albert National Museum of the Performing Arts. While working with Run of the Mill (It’s Anything But!) theatre company in Baltimore, Maryland, she continued building her reputation as an arts administrator and returned to performing and playwrighting. She is also an accomplished performance poet and dramaturg, teaches at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, and has a paper on the politics of the works of Lorraine Hansberry in a forthcoming publication, Icons of African American Literature, edited by Dr. Yolanda Williams Page.
