“The Erotics of ‘Under/Development’ in Walter Rodney: On Sexual or Body Politics and Political Economics – for ‘Guerilla Intellectualism’”
Abstract
The rhetoric of development is typically presumed to be a specifically political-economic rhetoric by bourgeois and non-bourgeois, imperialist and anti-imperialist perspectives on race and Western empire. But it is also and simultaneously a sexual-erotic (psycho-sexual/socio-sexual) rhetoric, language or discourse as, I shall argue, Rodney’s writings in How Europe Underdeveloped Africa and beyond help reveal.
Keywords
