The Open Incubator Model: The Case of Côte Ivoire

Ilan Bijaoui

Abstract

The main purpose of my research is to develop a model able to both encourage the creation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and accelerate regional economic and industrial development in developing countries. International experience is mainly based on the implementation of three models – the Industrial District, Porter’s Cluster and the Incubator models. Based on the main advantages of each model, I propose an intermediary model, the Open Incubator, that is capable of efficiently generating in developing countries, regionally-based economic and industrial development driven by SMEs.
