Deploying African Philosophy of Political Communication for Functional Leadership in Africa

Sharon Adetutu Omotoso

Abstract

This study uses the roles of actors in political communication to holistically assess political communication in Africa, to present the idea of African political communication, and to apply African philosophical ideas to political communication for functional leadership. Some have argued that democracy is the best government but it is not necessarily the only form of government that can apply in all societies. This article discusses political communication and the deficit of functional leadership in Africa; it presents an African philosophy of political communication, and then deploys this philosophy to achieve functional leadership in Africa.
